Utilities in Ghana Proposed Tariff Review 2022-2027

We summarized the entire utilities in Ghana proposed tariff for 2022-2027 to help you in regulating your energy usage. In a letter dated May 11th, 2022, the PURC released a letter captioned “2022-2027 Multi-Year major tariff review process for electricity and water”.

The press released indicated that “the Public Regulatory Commission (PURC) has initiated the process for the examination and approval of electricity and water tariffs for the 2022-2027 Multi-Year Tariff Review period”. The press released further mentioned how this directive is accordance with the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission Act. 1997 (Act 538).

Summary of Utilities in Ghana Proposals

This is how much you are paying now and what you are likely to pay after the approval.

Volta River Authority (VRA) is calling for a proposed tariff of 38.6879 (Ghp/kWh) which represents a proposed percentage increase of 37% over 28.2273 (Ghs/kWh) existing tariff.

Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) is calling for a proposed tariff of 28.2 (Ghp/M3) which represents a proposed percentage increase of 300% over 7.2 (Ghp/M3) existing tariff.

Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is calling for a proposed tariff of 39.95 (Ghp/kWh) which represents a proposed percentage increase of 148% over 16.1094 (Ghs/kWh) existing tariff.

Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) is calling for a proposed tariff of 8.9181 (Ghp/kWh) which represents a proposed percentage increase of 48% over 6.0421 (Ghs/kWh) existing tariff.

Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) is calling for a proposed tariff of 67.1650 (Ghp/kWh) which represents a proposed percentage increase of 113% over 31.5307 (Ghs/kWh) existing tariff.

Enclave Power Company (EPC) is calling for a proposed tariff of 43.30 (Ghp/kWh) which represents a proposed percentage increase of 38% over 31.5307 (Ghs/kWh) existing tariff.

All Ghanaians are to tighten their belts to consume the proposed tariff increments that is about to hit us once it is approved.
